Living in Bonita Springs Florida

Living in Bonita Springs FloridaBonita Springs Florida has been known as Southwest Florida's best-kept secret. Located halfway between Fort Myers and Naples, this beautiful beachfront community along the southern Gulf Coast of Florida is perfect for water lovers, fishing enthusiasts, dog lovers, and anyone who worships the sun. This small town community also offers a booming tourist destination coupling calm tranquility with exciting amenities that make it perfect for families, retirees, and students.

Bonita Springs History

The Bonita Springs area was originally called "survey" because that's what Army Corps of Engineers surveyors called the area when they were mapping out southern Florida in the 1870s. Developers made their way to the area and thought, that's not such a great name for drawing in the tourists so they decided that Bonita Springs would be a much better name. People began visiting and finally settling in the Bonita Springs area via the Fort Myers and Southern Railroad in the 1920s. The boom to the development happened shortly after the opening of Interstate 75. Today, Bonita Springs, located in Lee County, is home to about 53,000 residents with a total of 41 mi.², and 35 miles of that is land with nearly 6 miles of water. It's located on both Estero Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.

Living in Bonita Springs

Even though Bonita Springs is a tourist destination, most folks love all the activities and the benefits of living here. It's home to Lovers Key State Park, so remote that it is told that only lovers went to the trouble to seek out its privacy. Today, well not nearly as well-known as a lot of other state parks, this 2.5-mile beach is lined with natural vegetation and is fairly easy to get to.

If you're a dog lover, Dog Beach Park is one of Florida's only no leash beaches and is perfect for locals and visitors alike. It offers a secluded shoreline with shallow waters making for one of the best pet-friendly beaches in the state.

Whether you're looking to explore nature, take a boat on him to the bay or the ocean, or simply relax on the beach, Bonita Springs offers an unforgettable destination with a little bit of something for everyone. Close by is the Barefoot Beach Preserves, the Everglades Wonder Garden, fantastic restaurants with delicious seafood, and fabulous kayaking, water excursions, and fishing charters.

"Bonita Springs is a small to medium-sized town. The downtown area has a welcoming small-town feel. We have many charming mom and pop business and popular amenities like Publix, a two-story library, and plenty of Recreational areas. I-75 and Imperial Parkway are very accessible anywhere in Bonita, making it easy to travel to nearby places like Naples or Fort Myers. Apartments are hard to come by in this area; however, new construction is happening every day, and there are many affordable condos for sale in the area." -
